A PostHog alternative when you only need mobile analytics
PostHog bundles analytics, session replay, feature flags and experiments, with person profiles keyed on a distinct ID. Respectlytics does one job, mobile product analytics, from five stored fields and no identity at all.
14-day free trial, no credit card. The demo runs on sample data, no signup.
Why teams move off PostHog
PostHog does a lot, and does it in the open. Some mobile teams want less.
- They only use analytics. When replay, flags and experiments sit unused, a tool that does only analytics answers the same questions with less data.
- Person profiles. Events are tied to a distinct ID kept on the device and, once you identify a user, to a person profile with whatever properties you send.
- Self-hosting is a project. The self-hosted stack runs ClickHouse and Kafka next to PostgreSQL and Redis. Respectlytics needs Docker and PostgreSQL.

What you see in Respectlytics
All of it comes from the five stored fields. Nothing about who the user is.
Conversion paths

Drop-offs
The steps where sessions end, ranked by how many sessions each one loses.
Funnels
Any sequence of events you choose, with the conversion and the time taken at each step.
Conversion drivers
The events that sessions which converted did more often than the rest, with the size of the difference.
Segments

When PostHog is the better choice
Stay with it if you use more than analytics, or need it across web and mobile.
- Session replay, feature flags or experiments are part of your weekly work.
- You want one tool for your website and your app, with shared user identity.
- You analyse individual people's paths through your product.
- You query raw events with SQL.
Switching, step by step
Capture calls become track calls. Identify calls go away.
PostHogSDK.shared.identify(user.id)
PostHogSDK.shared.capture("trial_started",
properties: ["plan": "pro"])
Respectlytics.track("trial_started")
- Install the Respectlytics SDK for Swift, Kotlin, Flutter or React Native, and configure it once at launch.
- Replace capture() with track() and drop the properties. Remove identify() and reset().
- If you keep PostHog for flags or replay, leave it in place and turn off its analytics capture.
- Update your privacy label and Data Safety form to match what your app now collects.

Questions buyers ask
Straight answers, including the ones that might send you elsewhere.
Is Respectlytics open source like PostHog?
Yes. The four mobile SDKs are MIT-licensed and the server is AGPL-3.0. The Community Edition runs on your own servers for free.
What do I lose if I leave PostHog?
Session replay, feature flags, experiments and person-level analysis. If you use those every week, PostHog is likely the better fit.
What does self-hosting Respectlytics need?
Docker and a PostgreSQL database. There is no ClickHouse, Kafka or Redis to run.
